Day 18: Nairobi, Giraffe Center, David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust
Our last day in Africa started with a walk around Nairobi. Very cool to experience the hustle & bustle of this city! We said goodbye to our companions & headed back to the Giraffe Center. This visit was much more enjoyable as we got to interact with the giraffes more. Our last stop was at the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust which cares for orphaned elephants & rhinos. To see the work these men do was humbling. They are with the elephants 24/7, sleeping in the stalls, feeding, taking them for walks every day! This was by far the best experience of our entire trip & a great way to say goodbye to Africa.
We arrived at the airport a couple hours early & waited for the longest day of the trip to be over & get home to our kids. Starting with a 9hr flight back to London, a 9.5hr layover & 10.5 hr flight to Seattle was brutal, but it was worth it! We had an amazing trip & we met some wonderful people along the way. If you think we look exhausted, it's because we were. And we'll be back... just you wait & see!
