Poachers nearly wiped out all the elephants in the 80s in Tarangire, but thanks to conservation, they've returned in huge numbers.This place was very hot & dry & not one of my favorite parks. I got a touch of heat stroke during the drive, but luckily I was able to rest up at a lodge in the park while the rest of the group continued looking for the elusive leopard. I got punk'd by Christian when he showed me a picture of leopard he took (see pic #110) only to find out it was a picture of a leopard in a guide book! It was a good laugh had by everyone (even me!)
