12/2008 - Hawaii
Day 1 started with a motorcycle ride to Haleiwa Beach for lunch. On Day 2, we went back to the beach to enjoy the sun, sand and warmth. We saw several sea turtles swimming very close to shore munching on the green stuff that grows on the rocks. I have never seen a sea turtle, so this was very exciting for me! On Day 3 we trekked up Diamond Head to take in the spectacular view of Honolulu and the east side of the island. What a view!!
I headed south to Ala Moana Beach on Day 4. It's a quiet, calm beach.... perfect for kids and people (like me) who don't like to go too far in the water. On Day 5, the ladies (and Christian) had afternoon tea. It was like a tea party for grown-ups, complete with hats and accessories to make you feel like you were 5 again. Then we walked around Chinatown and downtown.
On Day 6, we planned to go snorkling in Hanauma Bay, but their parking lot was full and we were turned away. That worked out well for us as we ended up on Queen's Beach, just east of Waikiki (near the zoo.) We snorkled there instead and saw lots of fish... for free! And we got to play Tarzan on one of the Banyan trees!
